Fall Sermon Series: The Book of Acts
This fall, our church is starting something new—a shared journey through the Book of Acts. While a lot of things are new for a church that's less than a year old, this focused study will be a key part of our upcoming season, shaping both our Sunday sermons and our small group Bible studies.
Perhaps you're curious about our choice. Why Acts? What are we hoping to achieve?
The Book of Acts is a powerful story. It picks up where the Gospel of Luke leaves off, chronicling the birth and growth of the early church. As we read, we'll see not only the history but also the challenges and conflicts the first Christians faced. Most importantly, we'll see how God, working through the Holy Spirit, changed lives and spread the Gospel in ways no one could have predicted. This is a story of hope, and we believe it has a lot to teach us as we seek to follow Christ here in State College.
Our approach is designed to fit our unique situation. Since I'm part-time, my time to lead Bible studies is limited. And because we don't have a church building, we'll be meeting in the homes of our members. This model is the best way to make the study accessible to as many people as possible.
So, what's our ultimate goal? First, we want everyone to finish with a better understanding of the Book of Acts and how it applies to our faith today. We also hope this will be the catalyst for new small groups to form, helping us live out our faith more fully beyond Sunday mornings. And finally, we pray this journey will help our church sense the specific calling God has for us as we move forward.
I hope you will find a way to engage with us over the next two months. By committing to this study, we can all continue to follow the Holy Spirit and discover how God wants to use us to serve Him here in State College and wherever He leads us.

Worship In Person or Online
New Life welcomes everyone to worship with us! For young families, we have a children’s message near the beginning of the worship service. Then children ages 2 and up are dismissed to Children's Church for the remainder of the service. The curriculum focuses on Scripture-based lessons. We incorporate short videos, discussion, Bible teaching, and crafts to present these lessons in an engaging kid-friendly way.
Our worship services are live streamed on our Facebook page every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. If you missed worship service last Sunday go to our New Life Church Facebook Video page to view all our posted videos including videos of our worship services and Pastor Dave's sermon previews and recaps.
Pastor Dave’s sermons as well as sermon previews and recaps are on YouTube at our New Life Church YouTube channel. And while you are there subscribe to our channel.
Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday. If you have any questions please email pastor@statecollegegmc.org.
